summer and new year :)

I think we can safely say it's now officially summer in Adelaide now. Christmas day was a beautiful 34 degrees as was Christmas eve. It also looks set to be a hot NYE at 40 degrees, wow this actually wasn't supposed to be a weather report.. just some random thoughts. Anyway, I hope whoever is this reading this.. thats you :).. had a fabulous Christmas and you also have an awesome year next year. 2011 wow. It feels like just the other day it was the year 2000 and we were celebrating the start of a new millennium. I remember getting a special new millennium coin at primary school in the year 2000, it was exciting I guess to be alive for the start of that. I wonder if the people in the year 1900 were just as excited, to celebrate a new year lets take a look at what happened in the year 1911..

Significant events in 1911 were:

Northern Territory seperated from South Australia.
The first successful sea plane was flown by Glen H. Curtiss.
The first official flight with air mail took place.
Revolution in Mexico.
International Women's Day was celebrated for the first time, wooo go girls!
The New York City Public Library was opened.
George V is crowned king of England.
The Mona Lisa was stolen by a Louvre employee, guessing they got caught then? ;)
Chevrolet officially entered the automobile market.
First use of aircraft in war.
The capital of Italy shifted to New Delhi.
First expedition reaches the South Pole.

So 1911 was a very successful year. Let's hope 2011 can be too!
I think everyone wishes for a great year when NYE comes around, I certainly will be.
I wish that not one of my family or friends has to spend any of 2011 in hospital, me included because I've been in there a bit lately. I hope that our world developes and works towards new, brilliant and truly amazing things. I hope the leaders of our world/country make the right choices, towards making our world a better place. I hope I learn, experience and try different things. I really just hope its an awesome year for everyone in general. So Happy 2011! And have a fabulous New Years celebration :)!

why i want to go there.. :)

ok my first list! first was going to be a things to do in spring one but i was talking about this today with my sister in law and brother soo i felt inspired :)

where i want to go on my gap year and why (note to self and others: most likely won't go to all of these in my gap year, but over my life)!

1. Tanzania, Africa- Hike to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

2. Barcelona, Spain- See the Art and Sculptures.
- Check out the AMAZINGLY stunning beaches.
3. Egypt, Africa - See the Pyramids, Sphinx, Nile etc.
- Learn more about their amazing culture and way of life.
4.Morocco, Africa - for the AMAZINGLY AWESOME shopping.

5. "The Islands" - (decided to do these all in one because there is a few)
- The Maldives - To kick back and relax, scuba dive (when I get my license) and until then snorkel, tan etc, and probably go shopping.
- Norfolk Island - um hello .. DUTY FREE SHOPPING, ( yes as you've probably noticed I am a bit of a shopoholic )and to see the beautiful island.
- Hawaii - To learn how to surf properly, get an amazing tan, scuba dive, hula dance, party, shop, check out hotties and chillax.
- Vanautu - all of the above.
- Tahiti - all of the above.

found that 'purpose'!!!

ok, so my last post was about 'seeking a purpose' for my blog. as i've read all blogs are the same, the ones that don't go anywhere or get read don't have purposes, they just have people's life stories.. soo i thought of a purpose!!
i love writing lists, because they help me get things done, they make me excited (sometimes when there are exciting things i need to remember to do)! lists about the season, e.g. spring is also another thing.
so my blog will be based around lists, each post (hopefully) i will try and write a list for you guys to read. i will then add some more to it, explaining everything and talking about it. i hope this makes my blog more interesting for you guys. this also makes for a new layout for my blog. so i will work on that and i will have a new list out sometime soon. i hope people start reading my blog soon!

seeking for a purpose.

soo tired right now. the tiredness just hit me in a big way. going out for dinner argh. today was nice and lazy. went for another drive, cooked pastries; savoury and sweet, chocolate and cheese. watched flight of the conchords today. randomest thing i've ever seen, but hilarious. i know that no one is reading this blog, but i have this urge to write in it. i know my life is boring to read about and one day i will find a purpose for this blog. one of my biggest ambitions in life is to travel. especially overseas. see everything. do charity/mission work. maybe it can be about my journey towards that? well my steps at the moment is work, saving money. thats all i can do! so i will write about that. i am working tomorrow, 10-3 again. looong day. but hey, i've done 4 shifts this week.. that means. LOTS OF MOOLAH :), yay. night guys. hope your having a good one. oh wait my brain just reminded me this.. no one is reading. ta ta.

was having fun at work, until i split my thumb open on the slicer. i was making salad, and cut it open. heaps of blood, ugh. it was okay for a while but then it started again :/, so had to go home. anyway, working 4 shifts this next week !

uhh, wow i really forgot about this thing called a blog. been super busy. the last post was before ski trip, thats over a month ago. since then i've started a new job at a burger joint, working a 5 hour shift today! argh. but the pay is good.
went for my first drive saturday morning (yesterday), it was amazing, felt like one step closer to freedom.
now it seems like a want a car more than an overseas trip, i'd love to go somewhere like barcelona, spain or italy or the maldives. with all my amazing friends.
on friday we had a day off school, we all went to the city for my bday. it was an amazing day, picnic, then shopping. trying on dresses, had a real girly day, must do it again soon!
i really want a 1968 VW, either in red with a soft top and black tyres or a light blue one. but its apparently not 'practical' for my first car.. so i'll look around.
i also need another ipod, but they are sooo expensive! my little nano (8gb) keeps running out of space and i cannot possibly delete anymore music, i love it all too much. so i'm looking into that. so at the moment, i'm in the battle of saving vs. spending. it's a hard choice!
everything is happening at the moment! it's crazy, i like being busy, but i like having alone, down/chill time.
anyway, hope your having a good weekend ( i now have 2 followers, go me!) one of my followers is zara my friend :), so she's kinda biast, but the other one as far as I know, is a random. so thanks guys! means a lot.

watching re runs of gossip girl on dvd at the moment, just watching the second season.
the episode with the white party.. i think its like the first ep. of season 2 has the most gorgeous dresses! whose do u think is the best?? serena, blair or jenny?? i personally think i like jenny's, its so simple, yet so pretty, and i prefer the length :).

found these boots while shopping in the city, they are 50 bucks.. not too bad a price i guess, they also come in black, but i reckon the grey it cuter. they're like a cheap version of doc martens, think ill get them soon seeing as my birthday is coming up :)

casual banter

so yesterday i went shopping, with my mother, because she believed we needed a mother and daughter day out, and it was one of the only days i'm completely free this week.

we went shopping and i got two gorgeous new cardigans, an adorable umbrella covered in little red hearts, i also got a couple of birthday presents for friend's birthdays which are coming up, one party tonight. i also decided to be cool and buy new games for my wii, i got cooking mama.. and fashion idol. i am a bit of a nerd just letting you know, i am obsessed with the sims, i have pretty much every sims 3 expansion pack and i bought the collector's edition of the base game. i've loved sims since i was about 8 or 9 i think and i bought the sims (1). i am also obsessed with doctor who and i love torchwood. so i am a nerd at heart, i think nerdy guys can be hot and my friends seem to think i have a strange taste in guys. i don't care, i am my own person :).

tommorrow i'm going into town with one of my best friends. i'm going to stop into borders and hopefully buy a leather bound notebook that i've been pining after for quite some time now. i also hope to get a black skirt of some sort. another of my obsessions is clothing and make up, when i walked into my favourite store yesterday where i bought my new cardigans, i fell in love with half the clothing out the front. it was all sailor/french themed, i also love anything vintage. today i got my vintage fashion book (a major project this year for school) printed out professionally, it looks great. the front and back covers are laminated, it's binded and has a paper on the front that has a fabric effect on it.

plaster and park

My friend had her 16th at the plaster fun house, we all had fun painting random sculptures but the highlight was going to a park after and just hanging out. It was all filmed though, I'm pretty sure I embarrassed myself numerous times, but we had the best time. Singing, dancing, giving each other piggybacks and then my friend threw a glass of water at me, it got my hair. So I threw one back at her and got her straight in the face and then she got my jacket.. the water was then taken away from us. We then proceeded to run around the park like mad things, it was like being kids again!! Such a good day! Then at night my brother and nephew came over, caught up with them and then my nephew slept over and we went to see Toy Story 3 today with him. It was actually a really great movie! Absolutely loved it, it related to me well, because at the moment I'm thinking of throwing all my toys out.

dance

so last night, i went to my friend's dance performance. i went with 3 of my other friends. the friend i sat next to, well we basically spent half the performance talking about the dancers on stage, saying omg look at that chick's ears, oo she's really pretty or omg she's so up herself. but my friend danced really well, she did ballet and club (hip hop). wow those pointe shoes look super painful!!

there was an interval and after that was the 'haunted' part of the performance, the first part was mainly all focused on the 'good' queen and after the interval it focused on all things dark and the 'evil' queen. my favourite performance by far was the thriller one, these girls walk into a haunted house and dance to thriller and then all these haunted 'dead' dancers come out. brides, cheerleaders, military people etc. it was a great night! today i have a friend's bday party and i'm catching up with my brother later on, and then my nephew is staying over. should be a good day!

hope your all having a good weekend, even though i highly doubt that anyone is reading this! oh well, heres hoping that one day some people will read my blog :).

ok, so i've had numerous attempts at trying to keep a blog up and running.

but it just never happens. so i'm hoping this one will. i'm off school for the next two

weeks now, so i'll just write as often as i can, which will hopefully be daily... and i

guess i'll just see what happens.

this first post is dedicated to a list of things i want to do this winter. p.s. i live in australia, so yes, it's winter at the moment. my name is rachel by the way so, hi.

1. Learn a language, or keep going with French.

2. Make an awesome hot chocolate recipe.

3. Have a makeover day with a friend at home.

4. Buy and start a new journal.

5. Spend a whole day in borders, drinking lattes and reading.

6. Go to a concert/festival/theatre production.

7. Purchase a cute umbrella.

8.Makeover my room, with fairy lights and paper lanterns.

9. Learn the guitar (almost defs. not going to happen, but oh well)

10. Go stargazing.

11. Go on a picnic with friends.

12. Get all my assignments finished before school goes back.

13. Re-organise/tidy/clean bedroom.

14. Have a 'winter, cozy day' at home with friends.

15. Buy a cute hot water bottle and take it everywhere with me.
